01Garages in Boulder

What Boulder floors look like.

Boulder County

Typical job
1-car garage, full-flake

Boulder has a lot of older homes, many with detached or one-car garages and slabs that have been through decades of winters. Across town you'll also find newer homes with attached garages, basements, studios and small commercial spaces.

Older Boulder garages often need crack repair, or an old paint or DIY coating ground off before anything new goes down. Basements and studios are common spots for metallic and solid-color floors.

Whatever the floor, the job looks the same: we diamond-grind the slab, repair cracks and pits, put down a base coat, broadcast flake or quartz (or pour metallic), and seal it with a clear topcoat. No acid etching, no roll-on kits.

02Why coat it

Built for Boulder winters.

Up against the foothills, Boulder sees heavy spring snows, warm afternoons and a lot of freeze-thaw. Snowmelt and deicer on the slab, cycled through those swings, are what break down bare concrete.

Three things wear out Colorado garage floors, and a properly installed coating handles all three:

  1. 1

    Freeze-thaw

Bare concrete is porous. Snowmelt soaks in, freezes overnight and expands, and over a few Boulder winters that pops the surface into scaling, pits and spalled edges by the door.
  2. 2

    Mag chloride & road deicer

Colorado roads are treated with magnesium chloride and other deicers. It rides home on your tires, drips off as the car warms up and keeps eating at a bare slab. On a sealed floor it stays on top, where it rinses off.
  3. 3

    Hot-tire pickup

Tires heat up on the highway. Park a hot tire on a thin, poorly bonded coating and it can soften and lift right off with the tire. Diamond-ground prep and a real topcoat are how we prevent it.

“These guys are awesome, came in, figured out what needed to be done, and knocked it out. I had a large crack on my floor, along with several smaller ones, and they are gone. The large one was 9 ft and going in several different directions, and it's gone. Great job guys!!”

09FAQ

Boulder questions.

Don't see yours? Call and ask. That's what the phone's for.

How much does an epoxy garage floor cost in Boulder?

Our full-flake garage system runs about $6.25–$6.50 per sq ft. For example, a 1-car garage (about 250 sq ft) with full-flake lands around $1,563–$1,625. Slab repair can change that, so your final price comes after a free on-site measure.

Can you coat a small detached garage in Boulder?

Yes. Smaller garages are priced by the square foot like any other. A one-car garage is around 250 sq ft, so the instant estimate will give you a range in seconds.

Do you do basement floors in Boulder?

Yes. Basements are a good fit for metallic or solid-color epoxy. We'll check the slab for moisture at the free measure, since that matters below grade.

How far is Boulder from your shop?

Boulder is about 1 hour from our Fort Collins shop. Call 970-599-1898 and we'll set up a free on-site measure at a time that works for you; Saturdays are by appointment.
