02Worked examples
1-, 2- and 3-car garages.
A one-car garage is roughly 250 sq ft, a two-car about 450 sq ft and a three-car about 650 sq ft. Garages vary, so measure yours (length × width) or plug it into the instant estimate. Multiply by the system rate and you're close:
| System | Per sq ft | 2-car (450 sq ft) |
|---|---|---|
| Full-Flake$6.25–$6.50/sq ft | $2,813–$2,925 | |
| Solid Color$5.00–$6.00/sq ft | $2,250–$2,700 | |
| Quartz$7.00–$9.00/sq ft | $3,150–$4,050 | |
| Metallic$9.00–$12.00/sq ft | $4,050–$5,400 | |
| Grinding & Repair$2.00–$4.00/sq ft | $900–$1,800 |
Most Colorado homeowners choose full-flake for the garage: it's tough, it hides dirt and wet-tire marks, and it's priced in the middle of the range. Metallic costs the most because it's hand-worked and unforgiving. Solid color is the most affordable, and it's often the pick for shops and warehouses.
03What moves the price
Four things that change your number.
- 1
Square footage
The biggest factor. Larger floors cost more in total but every system is priced per square foot, so an oversized or tandem bay is simply more floor. - 2
The system
From $5.00/sq ft for solid color up to $12.00/sq ft for metallic. Full-flake runs $6.25–$6.50. - 3
Slab condition
Diamond grinding is part of every system. Big cracks, spalled areas near the door, pitting or an old coating that has to be ground off add work, and that's checked at the free measure. - 4
Extras
Carrying the coating up the stem walls, or anything beyond the main floor, is priced with the job at the free measure, so there are no surprises later.
04Low bids & DIY
Why the cheap floor costs more.
If one quote is far below the rest, ask how the slab will be prepped. The usual shortcuts are acid etching instead of diamond grinding, a thin single coat, and a light flake scatter instead of full coverage. They look fine for a season.
Then Colorado happens. Snowmelt and mag chloride get under thin coatings, freeze-thaw lifts them, and hot-tire pickup pulls patches up where you park. DIY kits fail the same way. Grinding a failed coating back off before a real floor goes down costs more than doing it right once.
Our process is the same on every job: grind, repair, base coat, full broadcast, clear topcoat. Read the full comparison of epoxy vs polyaspartic if you're weighing coatings.

How much does an epoxy garage floor cost in Colorado?
With us, a full-flake garage floor runs about $6.25–$6.50 per sq ft. That's roughly $1,563–$1,625 for a 1-car garage (250 sq ft), $2,813–$2,925 for a 2-car (450 sq ft) and $4,063–$4,225 for a 3-car (650 sq ft). Your final price is set at a free on-site measure.
Why do quotes for the same garage vary so much?
Mostly prep and materials. A low quote often means acid etching instead of diamond grinding, a thin roll-on coating, or a light flake scatter instead of full coverage. Those are the floors that peel and lift under hot tires. Ask every installer how they prep the slab.
Is grinding included in the price?
Diamond grinding is part of every coating system we install, so it's built into the system price. Heavy repair or removing an old coating can add to it. Grinding and repair on its own, without a coating, runs about $2–$4 per sq ft.
What makes a floor cost more?
Square footage, the system you pick, and the condition of the slab. Heavy cracking, spalled areas, or an old coating that has to be ground off add work. We check all of that at the free measure.
Is a DIY epoxy kit worth it?
Kits are cheap up front, but they're thin, they usually rely on acid etching instead of grinding, and they're known for peeling where hot tires sit. Removing a failed kit before a real floor goes down adds cost later.
“These guys are awesome, came in, figured out what needed to be done, and knocked it out. I had a large crack on my floor, along with several smaller ones, and they are gone. The large one was 9 ft and going in several different directions, and it's gone. Great job guys!!”
