Basement epoxy floors
Turn a bare basement slab into a finished floor for a rec room, home gym, bar or theater.
01Overview
Basement floors, done right.
Good for
- Finished basements
- Rec and game rooms
- Home gyms
- Basement bars and theaters
Basements are built on concrete, which makes them one of the best rooms in the house for a coated floor. A coating turns a cold, dusty slab into a finished floor that's bright, seamless and easy to clean.
Full-flake is the practical pick for rec rooms, gyms and storage: it's textured, hides wear and holds up to equipment. Metallic makes a statement floor for a basement bar or theater. Solid color is clean and simple for utility and laundry areas.
Basements come with one thing to check first: moisture. Concrete below grade can push moisture up through the slab, and that's what makes coatings fail. We look for signs of it at the free walkthrough and recommend the right approach before anything goes down.
- Made for concreteBasements are already on a slab, so there's no subfloor to worry about.
- Moisture checkedWe look for moisture before recommending a system.
- Easy to cleanNo carpet to hold dampness, odors or dust.
- BrightA light flake or solid color brightens a dark basement.
02The process
How we do it.
- 1
Free walkthrough
We look at the slab, check for moisture and old flooring, and help you pick a system and color. - 2
Grind and repair the concrete
We diamond-grind the slab so the coating bonds into the concrete, then fill cracks, pits and low spots and grind them flush. Good prep is what keeps a floor from peeling. - 3
Base coat
A base coat is rolled out in a color matched to your system. - 4
Flake, metallic or color
Flake is broadcast, metallic is poured, or a solid color is applied, depending on what you chose. - 5
Clear topcoat
A clear topcoat seals it in and makes it easy to clean.
03Systems
What we'd recommend.
- Full-FlakeThe garage floor most people picture: textured, color-blended flake under a clear topcoat.
- MetallicPoured, swirled metallic pigment with real depth. Every floor is one of a kind.
- Solid ColorClean, bright, single-color coating for warehouses, shops and commercial floors.

Can you coat a basement floor that gets damp?
Moisture is the main thing that makes basement coatings fail, so we check for it first. Depending on what we find, we'll recommend the right approach or tell you honestly if the slab isn't ready.
What does a basement epoxy floor cost?
Full-flake runs about $6.25–$6.50 per sq ft and metallic about $9–$12, including diamond-ground prep. Use the estimator below for your size. The final price comes after a free on-site look.
Can you go over old basement tile or carpet glue?
Old tile, glue and paint have to come off so the coating bonds to the concrete. We grind them off as part of prep, and we'll quote it at the walkthrough.
“These guys are awesome, came in, figured out what needed to be done, and knocked it out. I had a large crack on my floor, along with several smaller ones, and they are gone. The large one was 9 ft and going in several different directions, and it's gone. Great job guys!!”

“I had a great experience with Iron Cross Coatings from start to finish. The communication was clear, the prep work was done right, and the final result exceeded expectations. You can tell they take pride in their process — the floor looks clean, uniform, and professionally installed. They showed up on time, kept the workspace organized, and delivered exactly what was promised.”
